Ridgefield Rotary’s Fly the Colors Program Supports UCONN's Entrepreneurship Center for Veterans
The Ridgefield Rotary Club has made a remarkable impact over the past few years, contributing $65,000 to UCONN’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) through funds raised by their “Fly the Colors” flag program. When Ridgefield residents see the flags proudly displayed around town, they can take pride in knowing their contributions directly support veterans participating in this life-changing program.
UCONN’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans is designed to provide veterans and their families with the tools, knowledge, and mentorship necessary to successfully transition into entrepreneurial careers. With Ridgefield Rotary’s ongoing financial support, the program continues to offer its vital services to veterans, fostering an environment of growth and opportunity.
In a heartfelt testimonial shared with the Rotary Club, Mehgan Williams of UCONN’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans and Family Business Program emphasized the profound impact the program has had on participants. Veterans have found not only valuable business education but also a welcoming and supportive community. Williams relayed the experience of participant Anthony League, who expressed deep gratitude for the program’s transformative influence.
"I can confidently say that this program was a transformative experience. From the very first day, I felt welcomed into a family atmosphere that extended far beyond the classroom," League wrote. He praised the program’s professors and speakers for their commitment to veterans’ success, stating, "They took the time to understand our unique challenges and provided personalized guidance that was both practical and inspiring."
In addition to expert mentorship, the program offers veterans the chance to connect with past graduates, whose success stories provide invaluable encouragement and motivation. League noted the generosity of these alumni, who shared their experiences and helped current participants push their boundaries and achieve their goals.
The EBV program manager, Nick Martinelli, also expressed his appreciation for the Ridgefield Rotary’s support. He highlighted the program’s 15th Anniversary celebration this summer, which featured graduates showcasing their businesses and reflecting on how the program has shaped their entrepreneurial journeys.
UCONN, its staff, and the entire veteran entrepreneur community are deeply grateful for the support of the Ridgefield Rotary Club and the “Fly the Colors” program. Their contributions have been vital in empowering veterans to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
For those interested in supporting this cause, the Ridgefield Rotary encourages continued participation in the “Fly the Colors” program. Each flag flown represents not just patriotism, but also a commitment to giving back to those who have served.
